3 Reasons To Attend Our 1st Annual Melanoma Awareness Event Next Saturday

April 26th, 2019
By

One week from tomorrow the Academic Alliance in Dermatology will host its first ever Melanoma Awareness Event, an initiative created to raise awareness about the dangers of malignant melanoma and to make skin cancer screenings available to the public, completely free of charge. As an organization that’s incredibly passionate about the prevention and early diagnosis/treatment of skin cancer, this is a cause that’s near and dear to our hearts.

There are lots of great reasons to join us next Saturday for our Melanoma Awareness Event, but here are three of the top ones:

Reason #1: FREE skin cancer screenings.

It really doesn’t get much better than this! We’ll have all of our talented providers and dermatologists on site to perform free skin cancer screenings on anyone who shows up to the event. No tricks, no gimmicks, no hidden fees. We recognize that for many people, cost is a barrier that prevents them from getting an annual skin check. We also understand the important role that skin checks play in catching skin cancer in the earliest and most treatable stages, and we think these services should be accessible to everyone. That’s why we’re offering skin cancer screenings completely free of charge at our event on May 4th!

Reason #2: In-depth educational session with melanoma expert, Dr. Panos Vasiloudes.

Lots of dermatologists have knowledge about Melanoma and studied the condition in school, but few have devoted their entire life’s work to the pursuit of a cure. Dr. V has spent over 30 years studying Melanoma, identifying hereditary risk factors, and championing early detection. He’ll be sharing his knowledge with the public at our Melanoma Awareness Event with an in-depth educational session. Come ready to learn and with any questions you have about the condition – he’ll be there to answer them all!

Reason #3: Fun activities for the entire family.

We get that Melanoma can be a heavy topic, and although our event is going to be a great educational and screening opportunity for all the adults, we wanted to make sure it was something the entire family could enjoy! We’ll have food trucks onsite for some tasty treats, and we’ve got tons of fun activities available for the kiddos like face painting, cornhole, games, and more.

We’re so excited for this event, and we hope that you’ll all join us! If you want to help give us an idea of the headcount, you can RSVP by responding as “Going” on our Facebook event page here. There’s no formal RSVP necessary, though! You can simply join us at any time during the event. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
